National Information Services Corporation (NISC), of Baltimore, Maryland,
has reached agreement for NISC to acquire Chemical Information System (The
CIS) from its current owner, Oxford Molecular Group (OMG), effective 15 May.

The CIS database service was first developed in the 1970s under the auspices
of the US Environmental Protection Agency and the National Institutes of
Health. It offers its subscribers access to a number of long-established
scientific and technical databases -- such as AQUIRE, CERCLIS, and TSCATS.
The most important of these databases wil be moving to NISC's BioblioLine
service on the Internet's World Wide Web, where NISC already offers a
substantial line-up of scientific and environmental databases -- such as
Aquatic Biology, Aquaculture & Fisheries, Ecology Abstracts, Fish &
Fisheries Worldwide, and Species Information Library.
