The European Science Foundation (ESF) promotes high quality science at a European level. It acts as a catalyst for the development of science by bringing together leading scientists and funding agencies to debate, plan and implement pan-European initiatives.
The European Science Foundation (ESF) is an association of 70 member organisations devoted to scientific research in 27 European countries. Criteria for membership of ESF are currently under review and no applications for membership will be accepted until 2004. Since they were established in 1974, they have coordinated a wide range of pan-European scientific initiatives, and their flexible organisation structure means they can respond quickly to new developments.
